How to Root Galaxy S4 I9505G on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Firmware

Google has released the official Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the Google Play Edition of the Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505G).

Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505G users who have already updated their devices with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, may root their devices using the tutorial below.

This tutorial uses CF-Auto-Root file released by recognised XDA Developers, Chainfire. The CF-Auto-Root file allowing Galaxy S4 users to root their devices easily without depending on the firmware. It completely supports Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and future firmware as well. Head over to the CF-Auto-Root main thread to learn more about the root method.

Pre-requisites
1. Install USB Drivers for Samsung Galaxy S4 on the computer.
2. Enable USB Debugging Mode on the phone by navigating to Settings >> Developer Options.
3. Make a backup of all your important data before following the guide.
4. The Galaxy S4 should be factory unlocked and not locked to any particular carrier.
5. Ensure the battery of the phone is charged more than 80 percent.
6. The CF-Auto-Root file works only on Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505G. Applying this to any incorrect variant might brick the device. Verify the model number of the Galaxy S4 by navigating to Settings >> About Phone.

Files Required
1. CF-Auto-Root for Galaxy S4 I9505G (CF-Auto-Root-jgedlte-jgedlteue-gti9505g.zip)
2. Odin 3.07 (Mirror Link)

Steps to Root Galaxy S4 I9505G Running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Firmware
Step 1: Extract CF-Auto-Root and Odin 3.07 files using WinRAR/7-Zip/WinZip or any other extracting tool.
Step 2: Switch off the Galaxy S4. Then boot the device into Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down, Home and Power buttons together until a construction Android robot icon with a warning triangle appears on screen. Now press the Volume Up button to enter Download Mode.
Step 3: Launch Odin on the computer as an Administrator.
Step 4: Connect the Galaxy S4 to the computer using USB cable while it is in the Download Mode. Wait until Odin detects the device. When the device is connected successfully, the ID: COM box will turn to light blue with the COM port number. Additionally, the successful connected will be indicated by a message saying Added.

Note: If the Added message does not appear, then try re-install USB drivers or changing the port on the computer.

Step 5: In Odin, click the PDA button and select the CF-Auto-Root-jgedlte-jgedlteue-gti9505g.tar.md5 file.
Step 6: Verify that Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time checkboxes are selected in Odin. Also, ensure the Re-Partition option is not selected.
Step 7: Double-check and click Start in Odin. The installation process will now begin.
Step 8: Once the installation process is completed, your phone will restart and soon you will see a PASS message with green background in the left-most box at the very top of the Odin. You can now unplug the USB cable to disconnect your device from computer.

Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505G running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware is now rooted successfully. You can now install any app that requires root permission. Verify the root status of the device by downloading Root Checker app from Google Play Store.

Samsung has released the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy Grand Duos with model number GT-I9082. The new official firmware is now available as an Over-The-Air (OTA) update as well as through Samsung KIES.

Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos I9082 users who have already updated their devices with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, may root their devices using the tutorial below.

Steps to Install CWM Recovery on Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos I9082
Step 1: Extract Odin 3.07 and CWM-touch_i9082_chotu.tar.zip files using WinRAR/7-Zip/WinZip or any other extracting tool.
Step 2: Copy Fix-Recovery.zip and UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.51.zip files to the external SD card of the phone.
Step 3: Switch off the Galaxy Grand Duos. Then boot the device into Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down, Home and Power buttons together until a construction Android robot icon with a warning triangle appears on screen. Now press the Volume Up button to enter Download Mode.
Step 4: Run Odin on the computer as an Administrator.
Step 5: Connect the Galaxy Grand Duos to the computer using USB cable while it is in the Download Mode. Wait until Odin detects the device. When the device is connected successfully, the ID: COM box will turn to light blue with the COM port number. Additionally, the successful connected will be indicated by a message saying Added.
Note: If the Added message does not appear, then try re-install USB drivers or changing the port on the computer.
Step 6: In Odin, click the PDA and select the CWM-touch_i9082_chotu.tar.md5 file. Also, ensure the Auto-Reboot and Re-Partition options in Odin is not selected.
Step 7: Double-check and click Start in Odin. The installation process will now begin.
Step 8: Once installation process is completed, unplug the USB cable to disconnect it from computer. Then switch off the phone manually (Take out the battery and put it back in).

Steps to Root Galaxy Grand Duos I9082 by Installing SuperSU via CWM Recovery
Step 9: Boot the device into CWM Recovery by pressing and holding Volume Up, Home and Power buttons together.
Note: This should boot in CWM Recovery if you manually switch off the phone in Step-8.
Step 10: Now select install zip from sdcard, select choose zip from sdcard and then navigate to the Fix-Recovery.zip file. Select and confirm installation by selecting Yes.
Step 11: Return to main recovery menu and repeat Step 10 but this time choose UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.51.zip file.
Step 12: Once installation process is completed, return to main recovery menu and select reboot system now to reboot phone.

The Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos I9082, running official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, is now rooted successfully. You can now install any app that requires root permission. Verify the root status of the device by downloading Root Checker app from Google Play Store.

How to Update Galaxy Grand Duos I9082 with Android 4.2.2 XXUBMHB Jelly Bean Official Firmware

Samsung has now released the official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update with firmware build number I9082XXUBMHB for Galaxy Grand Duos (GT-I9082) owners in the Southeast Asian countries.

This update brings some new stuff on the Galaxy Grand Duos such as lockscreen widgets, dedicated toggles menu in the status bar, improved task switching, Daydream screensaver mode, and performance enhancements. It also integrates new widgets, homescreen and more features from the Galaxy S4.

Pre-requisites

2. Enable USB Debugging Mode on the phone by navigating to Settings >> Developer Options.

Steps to Update Galaxy Grand Duos I9082 with Android 4.2.2 XXUBMHB Jelly Bean Firmware
Step 1: Extract Firmware zip file using WinRAR/7-Zip/WinZip or any other extracting tool, you will get a .tar.md5 file and some other files (optional).
Step 2: Extract Odin zip file and you will get Odin3 v3.07.exe along with few other files.
Step 3: Switch off the Galaxy Grand Duos.
Step 4: Boot the device into Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down, Home and Power buttons together until a construction Android robot icon with a warning triangle appears on screen. Now press the Volume Up button to enter Download Mode.
Step 5: Run Odin on the computer as an Administrator.
Step 6: Connect the Galaxy Grand Duos to the computer using USB cable while it is in the Download Mode. Wait until Odin detects the device. When the device is connected successfully, the ID: COM box will turn to light blue with the COM port number. Additionally, the successful connected will be indicated by a message saying Added.

Note: If the Added message does not appear, then try re-install USB drivers or changing the port on the computer.

Step 7: Choose the following files in Odin from extracted I9082XXUBMHB firmware folder by using respective checkboxes:

Select the PDA checkbox, and choose the file named .tar or .md5.
Click the Phone checkbox, and choose the file with 'modem' in its name (ignore if there is no such file)
Click the CSC checkbox, and select the file with 'csc' in its name (ignore if such file is missing)
Choose the PIT checkbox, and choose the .pit file. Use only the file obtained during extracting in step 1 above, otherwise ignore it.

Step 8: In Odin, enable Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes. Also, ensure the Re-Partition checkbox is chosen only if a .pit file was chosen in the previous step.
Step 9: Verify everything suggested in Step 7 and Step 8 is done correctly. Then hit the Start button to begin the installation process.
Step 10: Once the installation process is completed, your phone will restart and soon you will see a PASS message with green background in the left-most box at the very top of the Odin. You can now unplug the USB cable to disconnect your device from computer.

Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos I9082 should be now updated with official Android 4.2.2 XXUBMHB Jelly Bean. Head over to Settings >> About Phone to verify the software version running on the device.

Note: If Galaxy Grand Duos I9082 stuck at booting animation after Step 10 then go to recovery mode (press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons together) and perform Wipe data/Factory Reset and Wipe Cache Partition task before selecting reboot system now function. In recovery mode use Volume keys to navigate between options and Power key to select the option. Please note, performing wiping task will erase your device internal memory data and not external SD card data.

Doing business with family and religious bodies.......Yes or No?

Happy new month!!! Hehe. Scratch that okay, I put it there as a joke. Till tomorrow, I would never quite get this "greeting" that has crept on us and become the norm, out of nowhere! Don't ask me why, I can't put my finger on it, but I find it strange. Maybe I am the one who's strange and old school-ish.

Next on my pet peeve list is "How was your night?" Like seriously! I don't understand. Recently I heard about how an expatriate in Nigeria sincerely expressed his confusion when he got into the office one day and someone asked "how was your night?". I hear he was like, "what I do at night is none of your business". Hahaha!

In other news though, September 19th is my birthday!!! Yaay me. Not like I have anything planned for that day, just feels good to shout yaay me, hehe. But on a more serious note, living to see another year in life is a privilege and I am more than grateful.

Would you be shocked if I told you, I really have nothing to say tonight? I was going to pass up posting but decided against it. I am an entrepreneur, I am meant to keep pushing, non? I shan't give up, no way!!!

I can imagine why one would think like this, especially the church scenario (don't stone me yet!). Many of us know the "do it for God" line. There's nothing wrong with offering your services or products to support the church for the good of mankind, but it's better when it comes from your heart, because if it doesn't you are wasting your time, pretty much.

I don't think as entrepreneurs we should shun family and religious bodies we belong to as clients. We just need to find a way to conduct the business as a business, no sentiments in the matter. I scanned the internet for tips on dealing with family and religious bodies but didn't find much, so you are stuck with my two cents;

Start with yourself
Do you just take products or enjoy services from your business without being accountable? You can't expect to enforce this on your family and friends then!
Be Professional
The way you conduct business should be reeking of professionalism. It should be so good that, nobody will even be able to approach you with "ilo ku lo" (indecent proposals). The way you present yourself, communicate your business and carry out transactions say a lot. Issue invoices when necessary, receipts at the right time, little things, but they are important. Let the quality of your service or product be unquestionable across board.
Be polite but firm
This may not be as easy as it sounds but you have to learn this, if you really want to stay in business. Do not entertain anything that is not in line with your company policies and procedures. Document all of these polices and ensure that anyone working with you is aware of these policies. If there is a credit policy, any habitual defaulter should be blacklisted. "Please uncle, I know someone who I can refer you to" c'est finit.
Separate the business from yourself
Give your business a life of its own. When you set up your business with its own accounting system, separate from you, an auditing system (It could be a contract arrangement) and so on, you are not free to take decisions for the business without having to answer to someone.
Set up a board of advisers/trustees
You have mentors, people that can guide you in your business decision making process. A word of caution though, keep this number minimal to avoid bureaucracy. Knowing that you have a board to answer to keeps you in check. * Read more about setting up a board here - Assembling a board of advisers

This is just scratching the surface, there's so much more that can be said, so many deeper issues that can arise, but I am all for keeping it simple. We can take further discussions on this matter outside of this blog. Besides, I am so so sleepy right now..... Body no be firewood.

Everyone will have this problem of getting various Customer care calls which irritates normal people, because they do not have any particular time to call, TRAI had given an Solution for those who do not need any disturbances

Let us go to the Subject Clearly, there are more services on the mobile like airtel, bsnl, uninor and the big list, but the solution is common for them. The Procedure for all service providers is same, by doing this you are registered to the National Consumer Preference Register (NPCR),the Promotional and telemarketing calls would be stopped within 7 days after activating the DND service

HOW TO ACTIVATE DND BY AN PHONE CALL

1) Just Dial 1909, a toll free number for this service, Listen to the Options and choose the right option that is to Register for DND service, the Activation will takes 7 days

HOW TO ACTIVATE DND BY AN SMS

1) The procedure is simple just send an SMS to 1909
2) To Stop all Promotional calls and sms, Just type "START 0" and send to 1909 (Use Bold letters )
3) It stop services for all categories, if you want to stop the specified category like bank type calls use number "1", real estate use number "2" , for Education use number"3", the list goes on,i think it is better to stop from all categories

HOW TO DEACTIVATE DND IN MY PHONE

If you suddenly change your mind about it, if you want to receive the promotional calls, Simply follow either one of the ways i stated below.

Just Dial 1909, and listen to the options, select the Option to fully De-register from the DND Service, it takes a week to Deactivate
We can Deactivate this service by SMS, just type "STOP 0 " to 1909, to De-Register from DND and receive Promotional and Telemarketing offers
